How to reduce energy costs during COVID-19
Publicado em 23 de June de 2020
Even with Covid-19, companies remain in operation consuming energy. However, according to Byron Serjeantson, NSW engineering manager at the Australian company Flow Power, some actions can be implemented to reduce costs, including:
– Use the air conditioning recycling function in rooms with less occupancy: the equipment consumes more energy when it uses more external air.
– Adapt your opening hours to peak hours: if it’s possible try to focus your activities outside peak hours and intermediate hours.
– If there are more than one elevator on the building, you could disable some of them, thereby preventing them from working unnecessarily and reducing costs.
– Involve people: everyone’s engagement and awareness is fundamental in reducing consumption.
– Ditch desktops for laptops: laptops store energy in the battery and therefore they don’t need to be plugged into an outlet. If this is not possible, remind the team to unplug the computer at the end of the day.
