MME Ordinance 50/2022: ACL opening
Publicado em 28 de September de 2022
This Wednesday, September 28, the Ministry of Mines and Energy (MME) published Ordinance 50/2022. The Ordinance allows consumers in the high voltage market to be eligible to join the Deregulated Energy Market.
Therefore, as of January 2024, these consumers may become part of the ACL. According to the forecast made by the MME, around 106 thousand new consumer units may migrate to the deregulated energy market.
According to Canal Energia, the liberalization symbolizes an advance in relation to the 500 kW limit defined by Law nº 9.427/1996. This allows Group A consumers to choose their supplier, regardless of their consumption.
Through the opening of the ACL, consumers will have greater freedom of choice, which increases their competitiveness and autonomy. Finally, it can be said that competition will probably provide more interesting prices, increasing the efficiency not only of the electricity sector, but also of the Brazilian economy.
